About Us
Hello! 👋
We’re Charis and Alex, Cadence Design Systems colleagues, outdoorsy creatives, and adventure-seekers who are passionate about volunteering for causes we believe in!
Through Cadence’s employee engagement program, we volunteered with Team4Tech, an impact accelerator that partners with community nonprofits worldwide to bridge the digital equity gap. We love Team4Tech’s model because they vet their nonprofit partners and stick with them for 3-5 years to deliver annual matching technology grants of $15,000, skilled volunteers, and access to technology, training, resources, and so much more!
In fact, we recently volunteered on a Team4Tech project in Cambodia that supported a nonprofit’s staff to leverage technology to accelerate their impact. It was life-changing and led to an idea… 💡
Our Idea
As two friends and colleagues who are passionate about making an impact, who love nature and hiking, and who love learning about different cultures and civilizations, we thought…
“Why not challenge ourselves with an 8-day backpacking trek in Patagonia with a greater motive: Organize a fundraiser for a nonprofit partner organization of Team4Tech?” 🥳
We wanted to choose a Team4Tech nonprofit partner doing amazing work in the areas of education and community development in South America since we’ll be trekking in the region. Therefore… drumroll… we chose Projeto Arrastão! 🎉
Projeto Arrastão is a Team4Tech nonprofit partner advancing quality education, for learners living in poverty in the Campo Limpo region of Brazil. Team4Tech helps them integrate technology for effective teaching and learning!

About Our Trekking Route
We aim to complete the Torres del Paine "O" Circuit trek. The "O" Circuit is a 136km (85 mile) backpacking route in Patagonia's beautiful Torres del Paine National Park. 😮 From March 10-17, we will trek in the wilderness, sleeping in tents, and carrying everything we need in our backpacks, which will be a challenge and adventure!
